Impact Stories
A Future for Naomi
Naomi was born with cerebral palsy in a rural village in Burundi. Her parents, struggling with poverty, had little hope for her future, as access to therapy and specialized care was nearly impossible. Without support, Naomi remained isolated, unable to attend school or interact with other children.
When Tabitha Mission Burundi learned about Naomi’s situation, everything changed. Through our Healthcare & Well-being program, Naomi received therapy and medical support tailored to her needs. Our Education & Literacy initiative also provided her with a special learning environment, allowing her to develop new skills.
Today, Naomi is thriving—she attends school with assistive support and has made incredible progress in her mobility and communication. Her parents, once overwhelmed with fear, now have hope. Naomi’s smile is a testament to what love, care, and community support can achieve.
A Widow’s Journey to Independence
After losing her husband, Esther was left to raise three children alone. With no stable income and limited job opportunities, she struggled to provide food and school fees for her children. Hopelessness took over as she feared for their future.
Through Tabitha Mission Burundi’s Entrepreneurship & Livelihoods program, Esther joined a vocational training initiative where she learned tailoring and small business management. With startup support from our microfinance program, she launched her own sewing business.
Now, Esther not only supports her family but also mentors other widows in her community. Her children are back in school, and her story has become a beacon of hope for many women facing similar challenges. Esther’s resilience proves that empowerment leads to transformation.
